The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that the implementation of the mandate that would make all event data recorders required to be placed in all vehicles manufactured after September of 2014 will not violate the motorists’ privacy.

According to the news, the federal agency opposes to the idea of adding on and off switches that would allow the driver to turn the event data recorder on or off whenever he or she wishes. Although the call for the mandate is still being reviewed, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hopes to make the device a requirement for every new car in order to increase safety.
