Multiple media outlets report that a change in the Maryland Child Safety law will remove a weight exception, which was the center of the debates carried out by many safety advocates.

According to the news, children who are 8-years-old and older will not have to ride in a safety seat no matter what. Since the law has changed, weight does not have to play an important part, only children who are 8-years-old or younger are required to be placed in car safety seats.

This is a major issue because car crashes are the number-one cause behind auto accidents that claim the lives of kids in the country.
