Several news agencies have been reporting that Toyota has been working to promote safety by designing a technology that would help to correct driver error, which is associated with most accidents, according to a recent study performed by the automaker itself.

The reports show that the company has developed a sonar system that would detect objects surrounding the vehicle and apply the brakes or trigger the vehicle’s acceleration limiter if the right gear is not favored. This technology has had a predecessor known as Intelligent Clearance Sonar, which is now being redesigned to make the system more reliable.

Future Toyota vehicles will be equipped with the two new safety systems, which are poised to prevent accidents and keep drivers safe. The automaker hopes to make up for some of its past mistakes associated with vehicles that have been recalled due to acceleration and transmission issues by developing better and safer cars.

Hopefully, Toyota and other car makers will be developing safer vehicles with more intelligent technology that would keep drivers out of harm’s way.
