General Motors, like Ford, has opened its Application Programming Interface to app developers in order to allow them to generate new apps or make existing apps available to their consumers.

Ford has also done something similar by opening its AppLink to app developers, however, General Motors has gone beyond by allowing developers to get into the company’s entire infotainment system.

Automakers hope to be able to offer more apps to their consumers as a result of this move.
