According to a series of news reports, Government safety investigators have decided to look into certain models of Ford Taurus over reports that the throttle cables these vehicles were equipped with could suddenly become stuck, which could cause traffic accidents.

The recent articles show that Mercury Sables are also being investigated for the same reason. Overall, 310,000 vehicles could be affected if federal agents discover issues with the model’s throttles. Up to this moment, the automaker received 194 complaints regarding the throttle control cable-mounting bracket splitting apart over time of usage.

If this occurs while the vehicle is in motion, brakes could fail and the driver may be unable to prevent an accident.
