According to a series of articles, a new safety system created by Ford is being introduced to new Fiesta models in Europe.

The reports show that the new Fiesta will come with Ford’s Active City Stop low-speed collision avoidance technology, which was developed to capture and process 15 images of the road in the blink of an eye in search for potential road hazards.

The system will be scanning the road 50 times every second. If the sensors notice a hazard and the driver doesn’t act, the system charges the vehicle’s brake system to prevent an accident.

According to recent statistics, more than half-a-million people are wounded as a result of car accidents in France, the UK, Germany, Spain and Italy and Ford hopes that this system will help to prevent a major amount of accidents in the future.
