Several news agencies have indicated that five new cars have recently been awarded with Top Safety Pick grades from the IIHS seven months after 11 luxury models performed poorly in a new set of tests that the IIHS developed.

The reports show that seven months ago, the small-overlap frontal test, which has been recently introduced by the IIHS, was responsible for several bad safety ratings linked to luxurious models. Now, every single vehicle out of the five vehicles tested by the agency was able to achieve either an acceptable or a good safety score. Some of these vehicles had obtained lower ratings in the previous test seven months ago but now, are fully redesigned and have performed well in the recent tests.

Automakers have been able to develop vehicles that are more innovative and safe than previous models, which is a great step forward.
