Parents Beware Of Risks Linked To Failing To Follow Car Seat Instructions

Multiple news agencies reported that because the NHTSA decided to only regulate warnings on car safety seats in 2014, parents may not be entirely aware of the risks associated with failing to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines when it comes to weight limits associated with safety seats and weight limitations.

Safety advocates worry because the LATCH system may be ineffective when it comes to keeping smaller or lighter children safe in the event of an accident. According to the official guidelines, when the seat and the child weigh 65 pounds or more, the car safety seat with the LATCH system is effective, if the combined weight does not meet this requirement, the parent should look for another device.
