A recent study has shown that drivers are much safer in vehicles equipped with side airbags than vehicles that are not equipped with these safety features.

According to an Australian research team commissioned by the Vehicle Safety Research Group, drivers and passengers suffered 61 percent less injuries to the head, face, neck and upper body in accidents involving cars with side airbags than those who were involved in crashes while occupying cars without the side airbag system.

The results may help to make side airbags an even more efficient feature in the future.
