A new technology has been implemented in more than 10,000 units of buses that has been helping to decrease the number of auto versus bus rear-end accidents.

According to the news, the device known as “TailGuardian” warns drivers if they are within 25 yards of a bus. Recent researches showed that drivers are not aware of the laws regarding the driving proximity to commercial vehicles. The study has also shown that only 5% of the drivers who participated in the study were able to judge the braking distances while driving.

Local officials in Irvine have reported that since the device has been installed, there has been a decrease in the number of accidents involving buses.
