Volvo Car Corporation has been working with CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium to develop a communication system that would hopefully increase road safety and make the driving experience much more enjoyable and comfortable for all drivers.

According to a series of news agencies, Volvo is working hard to make cars communicate with one another regardless of make. A system that is being developed by the company would allow vehicles to communicate and receive information on location, speed and direction that may be vital in keeping drivers and aware of tumultuous or difficult patches on the road ahead.

Volvo released a statement reporting that members of the CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium would have a standardized communication system implemented in 2016.

The system would be enabled by a wireless technology that is very similar to WLAN, which would put vehicles in the same frequency in order to keep the communication open and the exchange of important information flowing.
