The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Mercedes-Benz issued a recall for all units of the SLK250 and SLK350 vehicles manufactured between October 9, 2012 and November 20, 2012.

These vehicles could pose a risk to front passengers because the airbag module may not deploy promptly in the event of an accident since the occupant classification system might fail to identify a person is sitting if he or she is too light. A child or a lighter adult could be exposed to serious injury risks in a crash, given the fact that the OCS may not activate the airbag during the collision.

Cars affected by this recall should have the defective part fully replaced.
