Consumer Reports has added the Mitsubishi i SE, Ford Focus Electric and the Nissan Leaf SL to the top of the list. According to official reports, these vehicles can get great miles per gallon or charge. Some of the most efficient vehicles include the Chevrolet Volt, the Toyota Prius Four and C Two, the Smart ForTwo Passion and the Lexus CT 200h Premium.

Consumer Reports has created a list of the most efficient subcompact vehicles of 2012 to help consumers by making their research easier when it comes to finding the most economical subcompact and small models available on the market.

According to the official reports, Scion iQ and xD (MT) have topped the list of most fuel efficient subcompacts by getting 27 to 40 mpg, which could help consumers save a great deal at the pump. Some other vehicles listed include the Mazda2 Sport, the Honda Fit Sport, Ford Fiesta SE sedan, Hyundai Accent SE, Ford Fiesta SES and the Toyota Yaris.

Some of the not so efficient subcompacts that made the list include the Nissan Versa SV, the Chevrolet Spark and the Hyundai Accent GLS.
