The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that a recent recall has been issued by General Motors for 2,494 units of vehicles.

According to the official release, all units of 2012 Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Cruze and Buick Verano may have been equipped with air bag terminals that could be contacted intermittently by a shorting bar. If this occurs, the driver side frontal airbag may not deploy in the event of an accident.

The automakers hopes to prevent further injuries by recalling these vehicles and having the issue repaired as soon as possible.

The federal agency urges consumers with these vehicles to contact the manufacturer to have the defective parts replaced at once.

Reports have demonstrated that GM has recently issued yet another recall for all units of the 2007 through 2010 Saturn Aura and 2008 through 2010 models of Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6.

These vehicles, which were equipped with 4-speed automatic transmissions, may have been furnished with transmission shift cables that could experience a fracture.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that if this fracture occurs and drivers place the shifter in the Park position, the moment the key comes off the ignition, the vehicle could roll away. Since the transmission gear may be defective as a result of the cable’s fracture, the vehicle could pose  crash risk to drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
