The bill associated with rental car companies and their capacity to rent recalled vehicles is now being discussed.

Some opposers to the bill don’t believe that cars that are deemed defective, or flawed should be recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and they also believe that these recalled cars should not be kept from being rented by rental companies.

They claim that rental agencies would not have to remove any vehicles if the manufacturer provided specific steps that the companies could take to remove the risks until replacement parts could be obtained. Because of the awareness factor and accidents caused by recalled vehicles surfaced, many of the companies jumped onboard following the disclosure of these occurrences.

The San Diego lemon law attorney who publishes this blog has been informed that on March 7, 2012 Toyota announced a recall of certain Camry and Venza models due to a defect that can result in the vehicles failing to start. Click here for a copy of Toyota’s March 7, 2012 recall anouncement.

According to Toyota the recall affects 70,500 of its 2009 Toyota Camry vehicles and 116,000 of it 2009-2011 Toyota Venza models. According to Toyota, a manufacturing defect in these Toyota Camry and Venza vehicles may have resulted in silicon grease infiltrating the stop lamp switch, which can cause the vehicles’ warning lamps to illuminate, stop them from starting, and prevent them from shifting out of park. Toyota has not yet sent out the applicable recall notices affected vehicles owners.
