Maserati has issued a recall for some of its 2012 vehicles over an issue that could eventually lead to a tire failure, reports have shown.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that the reason for the tire failure is that the tire pressure monitoring software in these vehicles is defective, which could lead to a malfunction that will keep the driver unaware of the fact that the tire’s pressure is low. If this occurs and the vehicle is in motion, a tire could fail and the risk of an accident could increase.

Nitrogen is an inert gas, and in its commercially available pure form, it does not contain oxygen.

News reports show that, in theory, the nitrogen will displace several types of gas that normally cause some problems associated with the rotting of the rubber from the inside of the tire. Additionally, claims are made that the tire temperature is kept more stable if the driver fill his or her vehicle’s tires with nitrogen.

These claims are analyzed for accuracy and are disputed by several independent testing groups and their reports can be found in the article below.
