Citroën has reported that its engineers have developed a new type of hybrid engine that utilizes a gas engine and a hydraulic motor, as opposed to an electric motor and internal combustion engine. During the Geneva auto show, the company showcased the new C3 model with the Hybrid Air technology, which has been changing the way people look at hybrid technology.

According to the company, this new type of Hybrid technology can improve fuel efficiency up to 45 percent.  Since this new technology doesn’t require an electric motor, vehicles equipped with the Hybrid Air system do not require several pounds of batteries and plugs.
