Airbags In Certain Scion Vehicles May Not Deploy, Recall Issued

Multiple vehicles are being recalled over an issue with the Occupant Classification System that could lead to an airbag deployment failure.

According to the news, the 2012 and 2013 Scion IQ models are being recalled due to the fact that the cables in the Occupant Classification System could become damaged if the passenger seat slides backward or forward. If the cable is damaged and an accident occurs, the front passenger airbag system may not deploy.

The automaker has urged consumers to have this issue repaired by scheduling a visit to an authorized dealer to have a protective cover installed on the OCS weight sensor cable.
