Volkswagen has issued a recall for all units of the 2012 and 2013 models of Beetle vehicles over a possible issue that could pose an injury risk to children.

According to the official reports issued by the federal agency National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these vehicles were equipped with occupant control modules that may not sense the presence of the child safety restraint system if the leather seats the cars are equipped with are wet. If the car safety seat is not detected and an accident occurs the module may deploy the airbags, posing an injury risk to the child.

Car owners affected by this recall are being contacted by the automaker.
