The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that BMW has issued a recall announcement for all units of the 2007 through 2010 X5 SAV models.

The recall was made necessary after the company realized that the brake vacuum pump could leak lubricating oil, which could cause the oil to leak into the hose, increasing the risk of a failure of the power assist. If that occurs while the vehicle is in use, the driver may be involved in an accident since the stopping distance may increase.

The federal agency has stated that all affected vehicles will be fully repaired for free.
