Ford Crown Victoria police cars manufactured from 2005 to 2008 are reportedly under investigation, according to government safety regulators.

Approximately 195,000 units of these vehicles may be affected by certain issues. The problems, according to the news, are related to parts of the steering column that could become separated unexpectedly, which could result in a loss of steering control.

The investigation will soon be able to determine if a recall is needed. In 2011, Ford replaced the police Crown Victoria cars with a police version of Ford Taurus.
