Subaru along the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration decided to issue a recall for several units of vehicles over a possible fire or smoke hazard.

The 2010 and 2011 Legacy and Outback vehicles, 2009 through 2012 Forester and the 2006 through 2012 Tribeca models were equipped with certain connectors in the puddle lights that could be exposed to a moisture source, which could eventually cause the moisture to come in contact with the system and cause a short circuit.

To prevent an incident caused by short circuits, the company has stated that all affected vehicles will be repaired entirely for free.
