Several news agencies have indicated that BMW has issued a recall for all units of the 2009 through 2012 X5 xDrive 35d SAV vehicles over a possible issue with the engine belt.

According to the reports, the engine belt idler pulley bolt in the vehicles manufactured between September 1, 2008 and November 15, 2012 could become loose unexpectedly, which could lead to a power-assisted steering failure.

To keep drivers safe, the company has decided to issue this recall announcement at once. BMW has indicated that all affected vehicles will have the idler pulley bolts replaced for free.
