Mercedes-Benz vehicles are being recalled over a potential injury risk, the federal agency NHTSA has reported.

According to the official recall memo, the 2012 E350 and E550 Coupe vehicles that were manufactured between April 2, 2012 and June 29, 2012 come with curtain airbags that may fail to deploy as intended. The stitching in these devices allows the airbags to deploy too fast, which could keep the device from correctly protecting passengers.

If the airbags deploy too promptly, the level of protection decreases and injuries could occur.

The federal agency has stated that the company will be replacing all affected curtain airbags for free.
